KVM vs Proxmox for a small business running 6-8 VMs — overkill to go with Proxmox?

Setting up virtualization for a small office, roughly 6-8 VMs for internal tools and a couple of dev environments. Bare KVM feels like it might be enough without needing Proxmox's management layer on top. Anyone gone either direction for a similarly small setup?
